Numatic Face Shield – In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Numatic International Design & Manufacturing teams have worked hard to quickly develop a Face Shield that is effective, comfortable, reusable and can be manufactured in high volumes immediately. These face shields have been developed with and are currently in use with *Worcestershire NHS Trust, West Midlands Ambulance Service, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and The Gibraltar Health Authority.

Numatic is a leading brand in the design and manufacturing of commercial cleaning products, exporting to over 80 countries. They have urgently re-tasked our Research & Development Teams, Production Specialists and Manufacturing Teams to work across projects where they can help in the COVID-19 crisis.

Care and cleaning:

• The visors are reusable but sterilisation is a decision for each health authority based on their processes and risk assessments.
• The visor can be wiped clean/semi sterilised with universal wipes.
• The visors can sterilised through immersion and washing in hot soapy water (400C).
• The visor can be sterilised through immersion in 1% chlorine solution, as per many hospitals.
• The visor was sterilised effectively by NHS Partner* @ 60C.
• The visor can be sterilised through immersion in Isopropyl Alcohol.
• The visor was sterilised effectively by NHS Partner* @ 100C.

Safety:

These products are classed as Category III Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by the European PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425 and have been shown to comply with this Regulation through limited testing against the Harmonised European Standard EN 166:2001 (see below). This product is designed to provide some protection against contact with airborne droplets that may constitute a biological hazard. However, always remember that no item of PPE can provide full protection and care must always be taken while carrying out the risk-related activity. Never use this visor for protection against other hazards for which the product is not design for or tested against.
